The Issue Within The Issue

The Ali Forney Center, in tandem with New York Magazine, has created The Issue Within the Issue: an editorial piece revolving around the youth LGBTQ+ homeless problem facing the New York City Streets today. Through the voices of Ali Forney Center, graduates, staff, and supporters, we have been able to provide an honest and open perspective into what life on the streets is really like, and how the center helps pick people up and provides a platform for future life successes. Gaining an awareness for this issue is one of the biggest keys to helping solve it all together. 

 

40% of all homeless youth on the streets of New York identify as LGBTQ+ and they stand a higher risk of being put in life threatening situations. The Ali Forney Center provides the skills  for those who have been denied the love and support of their families.
