The Ali Forney Center hosts various special events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness. We’re committed to spending less than 5% of our revenue on creating these special events to raise funds and awareness for our mission. Join us in making a difference for homeless LGBTQ+ youth by taking part in one of these fun events.

Annual Events

A Place at the Table

A Place at the Table is our annual gala. Come join us for dinner, special presentations, and performances. Hundreds of supporters come out every year to raise millions. Past hosts include Billy Porter, Tituss Burgess, Todrick Hall, and more.

Our gala has been a fall event until now, but we are transitioning to spring with the hope that we can safely gather as we usually do for our in-person event. Join us at Cipriani Wall Street on Friday, May 13, 2022!

OASIS is our annual summer benefit, which has been running for more than ten years. As the largest LGBTQ+ summer cocktail party in NYC outside of Pride, more than a thousand people come out to support AFC. Enjoy cocktails, auctions, and live entertainment by RuPaul’s Drag Race superstars. Past entertainers include Parker Posey, Alaska, Detox, the cast of HBO’s “Looking”, and more.

We Are Family

50 million Americans, one in five children, go to bed and awaken hungry

Food insecurity and hunger stem from poverty and lack of reliable income, making the homeless population the most vulnerable.

A disproportionate number of homeless youth in the United States identify as LGBTQIA+.

Researchers suggest that this food insecurity is primarily a result of hostility or abuse from the young people’s families leading to eviction or running away. In addition to food vulnerability, LGBTQIA+ youth are often at greater risk for certain dangers while homeless, including being the victims of crime, substance abuse and mental health concerns. Food insecurity and hunger stems from lack of reliable income, making homeless populations most vulnerable. Individuals suffering from chronic hunger experience negative physical and mental symptoms. Most tragically, these individuals experience irritability, anxiety, anger, depression, and suicidal ideation at much higher rates.

Join the family. Fight food insecurity with The Ali Forney Center. Together let’s ensure our LGBTQIA+ homeless youth have a proper meal on THANKSGIVING and every day.
